We are proud of the history and traditions of All Ways Moving & Storage. As the oldest and only locally owned moving company in Washington, Pennsylvania, we have proven our resilience, strength, and dedication as we have persevered through the Great Depression, countless recessions, inflation, and trucking deregulation.
In 1913, Bill McKean and R.H. Burt started a moving and storage company in Washington, Pennsylvania. The used the slogan, “All Ways Moving” on their truck and began a company that would continue for generations.
In 1965, the company and facilities were purchased by William J. Moore and JoAnn (Kelly) Moore. Also in 1965, the company began moving our country’s soldiers and families as an approved Transportation Service Provider for the Department of Defense. In 1973, William Moore solidified a business relationship with Wheaton World Wide Moving which gave All Ways the ability to move household goods within the United States and internationally. In 1975, William Moore unexpectedly passed away leaving his wife JoAnn with two moving companies (which she merged) and eight children to care for.
In 1987, JoAnn’s son, Timothy Moore, separated the two operations. He updated and expanded All Ways , while JoAnn operated Anderson Transfer. In 1989, All Ways purchased Allegheny County moving rights, expanding available service areas. Shortly after, All Ways Moving & Storage expanded their Interstate Operating Authority as an Independent Carrier, and All Ways World Wide Moving remained an agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving. In 1994, Tim purchased the company from his mother, JoAnn, becoming the third generation of the Kelly/Moore family to run and operate a moving and storage business in Washington, PA. In 2000, All Ways Moving & Storage purchased state wide authority for Ohio, enabling the company to perform any move within the state of Ohio. In 2014, All Ways Moving & Storage purchased state wide authority in West Virginia, allowing the company to perform any move within the state of West Virginia.
In 2016, President Timothy Moore retired, and his nephew Jon R. Hoyt began running the day-to-day operations of the company while fulfilling a purchase agreement with his uncle. Jon marks the fourth generation of the Kelly/Moore family to run and operate a moving and storage business in Washington, PA. In 2017, All Ways Moving & Storage became an approved carrier for the General Services Administrations (GSA) Centralized Household Goods Traffic Management Program for domestic household goods. This expanded its DOD operations to additional government employees. In 2018, All Ways World Wide Moving separated its long-standing relationship with Wheaton World Wide Moving, and began a new business venture with Stevens Worldwide Van Lines.
